Using Coupons Effectively

Going to the grocery store and whipping out a bunch of coupons at the checkout register has not always been a very fashionable thing to do. However, “couponing” has now been revived as a hip and smart thing to do. For many families, especially considering the current economy, coupons have become a saving grace. However, if you are going to use coupons, there are some tricks you should know. Here are a few tips to get the most bang for your coupon!

Using Coupons Effectively

The first thing you will need to understand is your grocery store’s policy on using coupons. Does the store double coupons? If so, what is the dollar limit? Does the store have a limit on how many coupons you can use in one shopping transaction? Does the store allow you to use their own promotions, such as a discount card, along with a coupon for the same item? Knowing the store rules for using coupons will help you effectively make purchases and receive the maximum discount for your coupons.

The second aspect of effectively using coupons is planning your shopping trip. A well planned trip can save you a great deal of time, and will also help to ensure that you will not miss a deal or a bargain. It is always a good idea to check the store’s sale paper and website a couple of days before your shopping trip so that you can organize your coupons.

The third, and perhaps most important, key to effectively using a coupon is organization of your coupons. Most who are successful with couponing have a system of organizing their coupons so that they can easily be found and are used before they expire. Some people use a binder system with the coupons organized by date and type of item. Others use more of an index card system. No matter which method you use, organization is a crucial element of successful shopping with coupons.

When used correctly, coupons can be a huge financial help to your family’s grocery bill. To some, the organizing, planning and time it takes to effectively use coupons can be overwhelming. However, the savings can make the effort worth the while.

BIG IS BEAUTIFUL–OR IS IT?

A recent upsurge in the presence of plus-size models in print and other forms of media has provoked a spirited and multifaceted debate about the skinny-obsessed modeling industry, female body image, and big vs. emaciated. This debate is somewhat old, having already been beaten to death by the presence of such plus-size labels as Lane Bryant, long established on the global plus-size fashion scene.
BIG IS BEAUTIFUL--OR IS IT
But the ‘Big is Beautiful’ mindset Lane Bryant has long promoted has always been restricted to consumers and designers within the plus-size fashion industry. Far from mainstream. The recent appearance of noted plus-size model Robyn Lawley on the cover of Vogue Australia represents a decisive shift in this debate. Vogue, the fashion industry bible, represents the last and most authoritative word on all things fashion. A plus-size model on its cover amounts to a renewed validation of the idea that big is truly beautiful.

Some disagree, however.

A recent fashion show hosted by Australian department store Myer featured plus-size models, albeit to mixed fanfare. The show, which sold a mere 64 of its 500 available tickets, was titled ‘Big is Beautiful’. It has drawn equal amounts of praise and criticism, even vehemence. One Australian journalist called Myer’s use of the plus size models ‘irresponsible’.

One prevailing thesis, shared by many similarly inclined detractors, is that promoting big women sends as damaging a message as the promotion of sickly, rail thin women. One evil has merely been traded for another, so to speak. ‘Big is Beautiful’, some say, doesn’t represent progress, or the approbation of a more inclusive standard of beauty, but only supplants one bad idea for another.

On the other hand, advocates for the idea of ‘Big is Beautiful’ state that the presence of plus-size models on the runway conveys more benefits and positive messages than harm. More damage is inflicted by sending skinny girls down the runway, some have said.

These two positions sum up the fight that is currently raging back and forth on the issue.

None can deny that the fashion industry’s decades long fixation and celebration of unnaturally thin women has essentially alienated the entire human population. Very few people look like super models. Lots of people resemble plus-size models. Granted, a handful of seemingly obese plus-size models may inadvertently send a message that fat is great.

But the majority of plus size models are of quite average size and merely convey the healthy mindset of feeling comfortable and happy at whatever size one happens to be. Ultimately, this may perform a greater, more positive function to the end of neutralizing the ‘thinsanity’ which has long gripped the fashion industry, advertising, cultural definitions of beauty, and each individual’s personal sense of comfort in their own skin.

How does divorce affect your credit

How does Divorce Affect Your Credit?

Filing for a divorce will not adversely affect your credit scores. You may hear people say that getting divorced, or getting a bad credit loan has ruined their credit, however; the actual issue is caused by joint credit accounts and not the divorce itself. Joint credit accounts which are not resolved will negatively affect your credit.

When preparing to file for divorce it is important to list all accounts and balances for which you have joint credit with your spouse. Although the divorce decree may specify who is responsible for paying the debts listed, this is not enough to sever the contract with the lender. If the spouse named in the decree does not pay the account it will show up on both persons’ credit report, even years later.

In order to sever the contracts with lenders in the case of divorce it is necessary to contact each lender and either close the account or have your name removed from it. Even if an account has no balance due it is still necessary to remove yourself from the account to protect yourself from the other spouse charging up accounts in retribution. Unfortunately situations like those are common occurrences.

Emotions run high during a divorce but if at all possible maintaining a civil relationship with your ex-spouse will ensure your credit will remain in good standing. If you’re able to work together to clear outstanding debt you will both maintain good credit. If it is not possible, remember to contact each lender to find out what your options are in settling the outstanding debt.

Divorce on its own will not affect your credit but your actions before and after the divorce with your creditors will. Following the above steps will ensure your credit is not adversely affected.

TMZ.com reported that Mia Amber Davis’ widower is suing her doctors who he claims are responsible for her death back in May of 2011. Mia Amber Davis died as a result of a blood clot in her lung that she suffered a day after knee surgery.

Mia Amber Davis’ widower sites a number of complicating risk factors that should have required her doctors to change certain medications, namely her birth control pills which are known to increase the incidence of blood clots, as well as delay surgery until some risk factors were eliminated.

You can read the entire TMZ.com report here.

While TMZ.com is not commonly known for serious news reporting, I love to watch it every night. I especially used to like to watch the weekly summary show, which would air on Sunday nights at 11:30pm. But recently, the summary show has been replaced by an unwatchable comedy sketch show, at least in my viewing area on Verizon FiOS. (I had received a promotional email with a number of FiOS promo codes and so I made the switch, but now I can’t seem to get some of my favorite programs — I don’t know if the change is specific to FiOS or if it’s coincidental, like with TMZ.)

Anyway, it’s a shame that even after a year, Mia Amber Davis’ widower doesn’t have any peace and will now have to proceed with what might prove to be a lengthy legal battle.

The 36-year-old, plus-sized model, Mia Amber Davis, died on the operating table on May 10, 2011. She was famous for retaining her appeal, though at times, tipping the scale at over 300 pounds. Her very public abundance of confidence helped raise the self-esteem of women all over the world. She did more than serve the world as a model. She offered mountains of verbal support, leadership and guidance for all womankind.
The plus-sized fashion community has grown tremendously in the past few years. Davis is a big reason for this. During her career she made frequent appearances for Essence Magazine, Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant and Monif C. Her impact on the fashion industry as a whole has, in fact, changed it forever.

Davis did not begin her career as a model. She began it in the television industry as a production assistant/producer on The Ricki Lake Show. It was during that time that she decided to enter the blossoming, plus-sized model industry. She immediately took the fashion community by storm. She was the face of the 2010 and 2011 campaign of The Fuller Woman Expo. She’s been a CNN guest commentator, and worked as the Creative Editor-At-Large for Plus Model Magazine.

The details of her death were not at first known even by her family. They only knew that she was currently undergoing medical procedures, so it was strongly believed that surgical complications were involved. Those suspicions were later confirmed when the examining doctor informed Mia’s husband, Michael Yard, that his wife died from a blood clot related to her knee surgery. Mia’s cousin revealed to the public that Mia was actually very excited about having surgery on a knee that had been bothering her for several years. These findings, however, did not become official or publicized until the toxicology test results were finalized several weeks later.

Mia Amber Davis’ body was flown to New York where she was laid to rest. Janice Dickerson, host of Oxygen’s The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency: Size Does Matter, on which Mia appeared, attended the funeral. In remembrance of Mia she said, “I am proud to say she was my friend, and she had a heart of gold, and I loved her dearly.” Dickerson was sharing a sentiment that millions of people around the world possess. She will always be remembered for her undying positive attitude and her intelligent leadership.

A plus size model, sometimes hyphenated as plus-size model, is a type of model that wears and models plus-size clothing. They wear plus-size garments and model them for the purposes of selling them to other plus-size women. However, unlike other models, which may just advertise clothing, plus-size models have a more diverse skill set that includes advertising household products, cosmetics, and stock photography. Plus size models have a unique place in the modeling world, and they have a lot of niche uses outside of just selling clothing. Furthermore, since plus-size women make up a minority of clothing modeling, they often have to diversify their skill set.

Going to colleges on different sides of the country can be a tough situation, which is shown throughout the movie. One night, Josh sleeps with a good looking blonde girl named Beth, who tapes the encounter. There are many problems that the gang have to deal with along the way, including being served french toast at a diner that is something you would never want to eat. Kyle’s parents, one of Josh’s friends, thinks that Kyle has been kidnapped, so they set out on a rescue mission to save their son. Beth thinks that Josh is heading to Boston because he sounds like Austin, so she makes her way up there to tell another girl named Tiffany that her boyfriend is cheating on her. Barry, played by Tom Green, does not go on the road trip, but their is also a story line focused around him and feeding a mouse to his pet snake.

There are many laughs to be had during, “Road Trip” if you are a fan of raunchy, college humor comedies. Find out if Josh makes it to the tape in time or if Tiffany finds out that he has been cheating on her.
